Nortel OPTera/Optical Metro 5000 Series The Nortel OPTera Metro 5000 series, now known as the Nortel Optical Metro 5000 series, consists of the Optical Metro 5100 and the Optical Metro 5200. The Optical Metro 5000 series is an ideal choice for a variety of network needs, including storage area networking (SAN), data center connectivity, LAN extension, fiber relief in the metro core as well as private network builds. Nortel OPTera / Optical Connect DX Optical Switch Series The Nortel OPTera Connect DX Optical switch is now known as the Optical Cross Connect DX. Nortel Networks Optical Cross Connect DX switches consolidate multiple network elements into one platform, enabling service providers and carriers to dramatically increase network capacity, provide flexible services, improve connection and network management capabilities, and significantly enhance network reliability. OPTera Connect DX is the only regional cross-connect that integrates the metro network with the long haul backbone and can be deployed not only as an optical cross-connect, but also as an aggregation device, a high-capacity add/drop multiplexer (ADM) node, and a hub. The platform can terminate multiple OC-192/48/12/3 or STM-64/16/4/1 rings to further increase its connection management efficiency.

Nortel OPTera / Optical Long Haul 1600 Optical Line System The Nortel OPTera Long Haul 1600, now known as the Optical Long Haul 1600, is an open, multiservice photonic system that transports Ethernet and 2.5G/10G wavelength-based services over regional and long haul distances with high reliability and performance. The OPTera Long Haul 1600 extends the capacity advantages and fiber savings of dense wavelength division multiplexing (DWDM) technology to provide open connectivity of wavelength services for a wide range of applications, from IP and asynchronous transfer mode (ATM) to multi-vendor synchronous optical network (SONET) and synchronous digital hierarchy (SDH) equipment.
Nortel Networks OPTera Long Haul 1600 offers optical add/drop multiplexing (OADM) to enable the add/drop of local traffic without terminating express optical channels. This flexible design scheme provides loss-free insertion of the OADM and high-capacity drop, allowing the network to grow seamlessly in response to increased volumes and changing traffic patterns.

Lucent 5ESS Switch Local Access Services The Lucent 5ESS switch provides an extensive portfolio of Local Access Services. This portfolio consists of: -Display Services providing the ability to display a directory number of a calling party. -Forwarding Services providing the ability to redirect incoming calls to another destination. -Call Originating Services facilitating the end-user to initiate a call. -Call Screening Services providing incoming call control to the end-user.
Local Access Services allow Network Operators to introduce convenience services or to increase call completion rates. These services will generate additional revenue and increase customer satisfaction.
The Lucent 5ESS switch provides extensive traffic measurements report capabilities giving detailed insight in service usage. Local Access Services are available for the Lucent 5ESS, VCDX and 7R/E™ Solutions.
